Project Description

The public infrastructure scope will include the construction of new roads, the reconstruction of existing roads, and additional roadway improvements. This will include new traffic signals, modifications to existing traffic signals and all associated streetscape and landscaping. In addition to road work, new dry and wet utilities will be installed to serve the future development sites and a new retaining wall will be constructed along the adjacent Metra tracks.

GRIT has committed to at least 50% Chicago residency from the project's workforce, 30% MBE participation, 10% WBE participation, and aims to achieve 65% minority-led business participation.

• Who is the General Contractor?

  GRIT is the General Contractor for the Public Infrastructure Improvements project, with SPACECO serving as the project’s Construction Manager.

• Does this project have compliance requirements?

  Yes. GRIT has committed to the following:

  50% City of Chicago residency (total worker hours)

  30% MBE (City of Chicago and Cook County certified firms only)

  10% WBE (City of Chicago and Cook County certified firms only)

• How will I know when new packages are released?

  Package releases will be communicated via email to all subcontractors on the project distribution list. You can sign up for the distribution list by filling out the "Request more information” form accessed via the button above or by scrolling down. Emails will be sent by Ta Juana Tang of Tandem Ventures.

• Does this project require certified payroll submission?

  Yes. Certified payroll will be submitted each week. For this project we will utilize both LCPTracker and Skillsmart for certified payroll reporting. Our compliance consultant will provide training on both systems.

• Does this project require union labor?

  This project is governed by Illinois Prevailing Wages. As such, the Illinois Prevailing wage rate, including applicable fringe benefits, at a minimum, will be required.
